Fr. Jose E. Hoyos
Fr. Jose E. Hoyos was born in Buga (Valle) Colombia and was ordained in 1984 at St. Viator in San Pedro (Buga, Colombia). He joined the Diocese of Arlington in 1990, with residence at St. Thomas More in Arlington. It is there that he began to encounter and evangelize Latin American residents. In 1993, he was relocated to St. Anthony's Parish in Falls Church where his extensive community work began. He later moved to Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodbridge and became pastor in 2000. He is currently the Director of the Spanish Apostolate Office for the Diocese of Arlington. He leads over 34 parishes with Spanish speaking Mass for the Hispanic community. The increasingly number of Spanish speaking parishioners currently numbers about 500,000.
Fr. Jose E. Hoyos serves as a spiritual leader to a charismatic renewal group in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and abroad. He hosts several conferences each year in El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Bolivia. He maintains the importance of culture throughout the Mass and throughout the year at various events that identify with different countries, such as patron saint celebrations. Father Hoyos is also a weekly columnist for the Catholic Herald, Washington Hispanic, El Diario de Hoy, La Prensa Grafica & Nuevas Raices.
